 Disputes resolution process

Austbrokers Risk and Insurance Services are committed to efficient, fair, transparent and timely resolution of disputes. We subscribe to the NIBA Code of Conduct and to the General Insurance Brokers Code of Practice. RIS has a detailed internal dispute resolution process in accordance with the guidelines in that Code. As part of our commitment, we subscribe to the Financial Ombudsman Service, an external dispute resolution service accessible to clients free of charge in the event that they believe a complaint has not been satisfactorily dealt with by us.

If your complaint cannot be resolved to your satisfaction within 45 business days, you have the right to refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) for further consideration. FOS is an ASIC approved external dispute resolution service. They may be contacted:

NIBA Code of Conduct & Code of Practice

Austbrokers RIS Pty Ltd  is a proud member of the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) and are bound by their Code of Conduct.

We also subscribe to the Insurance Brokers Code of Practice (the Code). The Code sets out standards for Brokers to follow when dealing with clients including requirements to inform clients of remuneration arrangements and any conflict of interest.

Emergency Services Levy (ESL)

On 30 May 2017 the NSW Government announced that the NSW Emergency Services Levy Reform which was to move the emergency services funding from an insurance-based model to a property-based model by 1 July 2017 was to be deferred, subject to further review. This means that until this is done, insurance companies will remain responsible for collecting the NSW Emergency Services Levy (“ESL”).
